My Father Cigars is very highly regarded within the cigar industry, and upon lighting one of their blends, all questions as to why are quickly answered. With many of their cigars scoring in the high 90's, from the Le Bijou 1922 to the Flor de Las Antillas, we are now given this 90 rated gem from the Nicaraguan powerhouse. The man behind the company, Don Pepin Garcia, has moved mountains within the cigar community, and the apple obviously doesn't fall too far from the tree. His son Jaime brings us this blend that is enshrouded in a gorgeous dark brown Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, and is loaded with Nicaraguan filler that is held into place by an Ecuadorian binder.

The roll is tight and even, however the draw is wonderfully smooth. Tons of cocoa and earth immediately jump off of this cigar on the cold draw, with a white pepper note on the finish. The draw remains smooth while putting up a fair amount of resistance. Once lit, one is hit with a sweet cedar note that fades quickly into a dark coffee and cocoa. The cocoa is thick and chewy, followed closely by a white pepper note that sits on the back of the the throat. The spice really picks up in the second third, and moves to the forefront of the flavor profile. Finally, a cinnamon note makes its presence known and seems to squeeze out the pepper completely, leaving the smoker with a brisk spicy finish.

This cigar burns slow and steady, allowing one to admire the overall quality that manifests itself in the stacked ash that clings tightly to the unwavering burn line. The draw stays open and smooth from start to finish. The smoke production is satisfying but not overwhelming, and lends itself to a very inviting room note via the distinctly flavored Nicaraguan tobacco that My Father is known for. This cigar hits a lot of key points from the quality construction and attractive band, to the medium-full body and spicy profile. Give this one a try, and it will quickly became a staple in your humidor!
